Executive Chef Heather Bekar-Schulte has been in the culinary industry since 1994. Her strong farming background has given her monumental respect for food producers, a driving passion to create exceptional food, and a need to feed people. In 2014, her late father helped her form Chef de Partie Catering and that dream became a reality. Our staff is either family or quickly becomes so and share her same high regard for customer service and sentiment to good food.
After moving into our new commercial catering kitchen in the winter of 2019, we decided to spread our wings and expand for 2020. We have created a beautiful new retail space at the front of our kitchen on the corner of 34th Street and Quebec Avenue in Saskatoon. We are collaborating with several local makers, bakers, farmers, and growers to bring you a carefully curated retail market experience to complement CDP Market Private Label foods and meals available for sale.
At 18, Heather Bekar-Schulte completed the SIAST Culinary Program. Her career began in Saskatoon before moving to Alberta, where she owned and operated her own restaurant, at the intrepid age of 19.
In the next several years Heather honed her skills as a food and produce vendor at farmers’ markets on top of working at local cafes. These years were punctuated with the arrival of three children culminating in a move back home to Saskatchewan as a single mother in 2003.
Heather pursued her career working with many skilled chefs in Saskatoon, each one imparting invaluable knowledge. She successfully challenged her Journeyperson’s Exam in 2008 before continuing upward in the Saskatoon Chef's world.
In June 2014, Heather formed Chef de Partie Catering. Her passion for local food has provided a strong foundation for her success as the company continues to re-define the private catering service.
In 2019, Heather and her husband and business partner, Jerry built a new catering facility on 34th & Quebec Ave. They created a quaint retail market at the front of the business to collaborate with local farmers and bring great Saskatchewan products to market. They also have their own line of CDP Private Label culinary creations.
At home, Heather spends an inordinate amount of time snuggling with her Min Pin, Loki. She loves to spend time barefoot in her greenhouse and garden and puttering with hubby in the yard.
Kaitlyn is Saskatchewan born and raised. She has worked for Chef de Partie for three years, starting out as a Baker and working her way to Front of House Manager for three virtual restaurant partners and now Banquets Manager. Having inherited her grandfather’s stubbornness, she has not met a problem or a puzzle she wasn’t determined to solve.
The more someone says she cannot do something, the more determined she is! This has lead to many hobbies that involve problem-solving including sudoku, picture and crossword puzzles, videogames, and true crime documentaries. But don’t let her geekiness fool you – her favorite place will always be in nature, whether it’s chilling by the lake or hanging out in a field watching the stars.
Candice loves all things food and when she is not at work, can be found at home cooking, baking, pinching perogies, reading cookbooks, photographing nature, doing yoga, or gardening. She has been a Domestic Goddess (aka, mother) for fifteen years and has worn many career hats including market vendor, franchise owner, lunch lady, children’s cooking instructor, excursion train guide, and retail marketing.
Her first taste of entrepreneurism came at a Calgary curling club, operating restaurant and catering services, where she lovingly prepared food for hundreds of regulars as well as many famous curlers. One of her proudest moments was John Morris remarking “I have eaten at a lot of curling clubs and your food is the best!".
Be sure to stop by the Market - Candice loves to chat about food or cooking and is always willing to suggest a product to help amplify your home cooking (or eating) experience!
